Hakim Abdul Waheed Sulemani, son of Hakim Muhammad Abdullah, started his professional journey in 1968 after completing his studies in Pharmacy and Islamic Studies from the University of the Punjab, Lahore. He began his work from Jahanian and established Idara Sulemani for the sale and distribution of books and medicines. On 26 March 1971, the publication of Khawas Shehad was restarted with new arrangements, and it was sold out within just two months.

In April 1971, Hakim Muhammad Abdullah transferred the publishing rights of his books to the publications department of Idara Sulemani. This led to the formation of Idara Matbuat Sulemani, after earlier names like Dar-ul-Kutub Sulemani (Rohri, India) and Maktaba Sulemani (Jahanian). In August 1974, the organization was shifted to Lahore due to administrative needs. Following his father’s vision of promoting knowledge and medicine, Hakim Abdul Waheed Sulemani republished the works of his father and other scholars with updates and a modern presentation. These valuable and rare medical books helped the organization gain a strong position among medical institutions in Pakistan.

With over forty years of hard work, trust and quality became the identity of Idara Matbuat Sulemani. Continuing the legacy of his elders, he started his clinic in 1971 and has been serving people with free medical advice for the sake of Allah. He also has a strong interest in traveling across Pakistan to research local herbs. His simple and easy-to-understand medical articles have been published in Urdu Digest, Roznama Islam, and other newspapers. Later, these articles were translated and published in magazines in India, Bangladesh, Dubai, the United States, and the Philippines.

By the grace of Allah and the support of practitioners, the reputation and good name we have earned since the establishment of the organization is something only a few institutions achieve. Hakim Muhammad Abdullah considered the promotion of knowledge and medicine as an act of worship, and this vision is strongly carried forward by his successors. The popularity of the books published by the organization is a blessing from Allah. Even with limited resources, the organization continues to work with strong commitment and dedication to its goals.

The field of medicine and medical publishing is our family heritage and specialization. The main goal of Idara Matbuat Sulemani is to promote knowledge and health by providing affordable, high-quality, and authentic medical and educational books for everyone. Our publications include around 300 quality books covering tested remedies, compound medicines, treatments, pharmaceutical preparation, Ayurvedic medicine, Kushtajat, medical syllabus, and other educational and literary topics. In this way, the organization has played a leading role in the revival of Unani medicine.

In June 2009, we also launched a new platform called Adabiyat. Under this, more than two dozen books have been published on Islamic, educational, literary, historical, and children’s literature topics. InshaAllah, we will continue to maintain our traditions in this field as well.

The organization believes in meaningful and constructive literature and publishes books that help develop a healthy reading habit, improve knowledge and skills, and build mental, physical, and social awareness. Our approach is that every book should have strong research and writing, simple and engaging content, and be free from errors. The design should be attractive, printing should be high quality, paper should be fine, binding should be strong, and the cover should be appealing. To promote Unani medicine at an international level, there is a strong need to translate the works of Hakim Muhammad Abdullah and other well-known practitioners into English, Chinese, Arabic, Persian, and other global languages.
