Surgery is one of the most important branches of medicine, and a physician cannot be considered complete without its mastery. In earlier times, our scholars dominated this field, and Abu al-Qasim Al-Zahrawi’s book Al-Tasreef was studied in major European medical institutions for a long period.

However, over time, our grip on this knowledge weakened. While many prominent authors focused on pharmacology (Ilm al-Adwiyah) and wrote commentaries on Al-Qanun and translations of other books, very little significant work was done on surgery.

Hakim Abdur Rashid, a lecturer at Anjuman Himayat Islam Tibbiya College, Lahore, compiled his lectures into this book, inviting scholars and practitioners to pay attention to this vital art of medicine.
